This was easily one of the best programs we have had at the library…ever!
— Deb Hyde (Director, Park Falls Public Library)

Go behind the scenes and beyond the taprooms with State of Craft Beer Author & Photographer Matthew Janzen. His presentation will take you down the path that compelled him to quit his job so he could travel to breweries, and how that journey led him to meet farmers, artists, scientists, virtually all walks of life and businesses that are benefiting from craft beer's astronomical growth. Even if you’re not a fan of craft beer, you will be captivated by the trends he discovered while driving over 30,000 miles to explore the economic impact of this booming industry. Learn how breweries are strengthening their communities, and how the importance of that story became a book.

I was thrilled this program brought in a new group of interested people that we haven’t seen at our programs before.
— Kerri Ashlin (Adult & Teen Programming Coordinator, Rice Lake Public Library)

About the book

State of Craft Beer is a unique journey through the beer-making process, following raw products as they make their way from fields and factories, through breweries, and into our glass. The pages — filled with photos, stories, and slices of everyday life — weave a tale of passionate, hard-working people who care about the communities they live in.

I found his program eye-opening...craft beer supports many people and businesses across the state and is more vast than I had imagined. I’d recommend Matthew’s program for an educational and fun library event that would appeal to a broad audience.
— Ted Stark (Director, Menomonie Public Library)

Passionate, comfortable with being in front of large audiences, filled with fun facts, and that’s all before he starts drinking beer. Matthew Janzen hails from small town Wisconsin and currently lives in Wisconsin’s biggest town (Milwaukee), but he’s more than willing to head to your state or town and spread the good word about great beer.
